On the bridge of the XIV and XV centuries mantelpiece and room clocks began usually to be found. The first stuff for clocks was iron and the winding mechanism of such clocks was founded on weights. Firstly they didn't differ from tower clocks by their scheme and structure components.
In the XV century people applied walls' consoles where clocks were placed. Timber console became a component of the body of clocks after a few ages and it was stylized to the entire clocks ensemble. In rich homes it was one of the decor components of premises. They were a part of the entire interior ensemble where all the particulars had to be done due to the dominating style of the age. A few centuries later appeared professional clockmakers. They sought to give face to each clock they made. We can signify such remarkable persons as Roentgen, Goutier and Benemann. Their clocks were definitely marvelous and there were no analogues in the world. In the XVIII century appeared clockmakers that began to create copies from the most marvelous clocks they found.
