2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 are the low cards and they settle the value of plus one. Such cards are useful to the dealer. He must take a hit if their totality score is under seventeen. If there are more low cards in the deck they are less likely to bust.
The cards that appoint value of minus one are the High cards: Ten, Jack, Queen, King and Ace. The player is in preference of these high cards. There are also neutral cards that have no value and should not be counted. They are seven, eight and nine. If you count 52 card deck using these values the total will be 0. The quantity of high and low cards is equal that makes the Hi/Lo system the most proportional system of counting.
