Visiting Kiev (Kyiv)
December 11th, 2007Kiev is the city where the modern and the old create wonderful chances for historical and aesthetic exploration. However, before you become a visitor to this incredible city, take your time to decide on at least 2 questions: accommodation and transport.
Let us discuss selecting an accommodation. Start by considering your budget and personal preference, you may either choose to rent a room in a Kiev hotel, or rent an apartment. Mind the class of Kiev hotels to estimate the quality of the service and accommodation and the price you are willing to pay for it.
The Ukrainian capital has a number of five and four star hotels. There are literary dozens of less posh Kiev accommodation opportunities. A five star hotel is going to be approximately $400-850 per 24 hrs, 4 stars will cost $150-$500, three stars will be about $70-300, two stars will be from $50 to 120 and small and one star hotels cost around 25-100 per 24 hours.
There are also a couple of hostels in the city for students and young people. In a regular hostel you will have unpretentious but fresh accommodation and some sofas or beds in one and the same room.
If you want to spare some money, you might want to rent an apartment. For the cost of a modest hotel room in the price range of $90-150 you could rent a luxury apartment in the downtown. Single room cheep flats can be rent for no more than $50. Many companies that allow you to rent this kind of Kyiv apartments may even meet you at the airport. The rule of thumb of here is to reserve the apartment at least a couple of days in advance.
If you are pressed for money or would like to have something more extreme, you may try renting sleeping space in a train. There is a train depot not far from the train station
